Karen is an abstract artist who combines the expressive brushwork of Impressionism with the non-representational forms of Abstract Art. Guided organically by emotion and feeling rather than preconceived form, her creative process is to follow where led in each work of art. She often feels that the canvas and brushes are guiding her hand in color choice and direction of flow and stroke. She usually begins each piece with little direction or intent, only becoming aware during the process of the path materializing before her.
Working primarily in acrylics, her technique is a fluid dance between control and surrender. She builds her compositions through an accumulation of multiple layers in delicate washes and bold gestural marks, allowing the paint to dictate its own natural course.
She finds her works to be a representational show of her healing and evolving journey. Her hopes, dreams, sorrows, and joys are expressed through her painting strokes. Karen’s desire is for others to experience a passion of unique and fulfilling emotions viewing her works.
